5 Brilliant Interior Design Trends for 2022

Faith Led Interior Design Show | Episode 19

Trends, just like fashion trends, come and go. The problem with interior design trends is that frequently remodeling and purchasing new furnishings is a considerable investment and time-consuming.

In today’s episode, I am sharing some hot trends in 2022. Although these trends are popular for 2022, I don’t see them going anywhere soon, and may be worth the investment. Check them out now!

Be Blessed Verse:

John 15:16 “You did not choose me but I chose you.”

It came as a surprise to me that no one chose God first.  He chose us first, all of us. The Bible says He pursues us. I ran away as long and as hard as I could because I did not think that Jesus was real. But then, through circumstances, I had an encounter with Him that made me never wonder again. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is alive and very real. I’ll tell you the story later.

5 Brilliant Interior Design Trends for 2022

As I said earlier, trends, just like fashion trends, come and go. With this in mind, when you design your space, you want to go with timeless features that you can add trendy elements to (and items that can be easily changed), saving you time and money!

Although these trends are popular for 2022, I don’t see them going anywhere soon, and may be worth the investment. Here are my top 5 interior design trends for 2022.

1.     HOME OFFICES

Home offices are here to stay and must be considered now more than ever in our home interior designs. Open concept layouts have been challenging in the past couple of years because more people work from home. They need their privacy, and an open plan doesn’t meet their needs.

One way to create a home office is to take a great room and remodel it to include office space. However, this option is an investment and more time-consuming. If a remodel isn’t an option, consider simply screening off an office area in your open space. Although this is not as private or soundproof, it does the trick for some and is cost-effective.

Also, I have seen many extra rooms converted into an office. For example, one of my recent clients converted a guest room into a home office and is quite pleased with his new arrangement.

2.     COLORS OF THE YEAR

The greys are still kicking this year, but they are becoming warmer. So you will see warm neutrals along with warm greys and creamy whites.

This year’s colors are warm green hues that remind me of nature and tranquility.

  • Benjamin Moore - October Mist

  • Farrow and Ball - Mizzle

  • Sherwin Williams - Evergreen Fog

  • Behr - Breezeway

Interestingly, Pantone's color of the year is known as Very Peri (officially PANTONE 17-3938). Very Peri fuses what Pantone describes as a “dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertone.

Pantone said Very Peri is the “happiest and warmest of all the blue hues,” meant to symbolize transition and new possibilities.

Use colors that create the feeling you want your home to embody. When you use brighter colors, they add dimension, interest, and drama. On the other hand, the more subtle warm tones are relaxing and elegant. These warm tones will be trendy this year.

3.     BLACK ACCENTS

Pair black accents with light neutrals, whites, or warm neutral walls. Black accents create a beautiful contrast in windows, door frames, and doors themselves. For example, one of my clients has a black skylight that looks lovely in the room.

Pro Tip: A quick and easy way to update your kitchen is to change all your kitchen hardware to a black finish. If you are on a budget and have nice drawer and door pulls already, you can spray paint them matte black. It is a very cost-effective, quick, and pretty dramatic update.

I absolutely love these black-framed front doors!

4.    VINTAGE

If you have been shopping for nearly anything lately, you may have noticed that everything is back-ordered. Inventory is low, but products will be in the future. Unfortunately, the backorders are lengthy, and the product may become unavailable, even after your long wait.  This has always been a designer's nightmare, and it is rampant right now.

So instead of waiting, many people are re-purposing classic old furnishings. It’s a fun and exciting trend if done well!

Some clients use family heirlooms, while others do antique and flea market shopping. You can successfully combine vintage pieces with contemporary or modern furnishings. And there is no wait.

5.    MIXED METALS

Mixing metals is a popular trend, and experts say there's no indication this will change.  And because this trend is so popular, you may ask, “Which metals blend well together?”

The answer? Most metals blend well together. The crucial part is that they work well with your design.

You can mix 2-3 metals to add fun and interest. This year's metal trends are black, antique brass, brass, and warm and cool silver tones for the more simple modern looks.

Warm metals such as brushed brass, antique bronze, and gold give a vibrant pop of color when mixed with cool metals like chrome, nickel, and silver. Use the metals you love, and although this mixed metal design usually is not for a novice, it can be gorgeous and effective.

How I Knew Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt That Jesus Is Alive in Heaven and Very Real

I had my first child, my daughter, Danielle, in 1989.  When she was about two years old,  I  had a distinct feeling that we needed God.  l felt like we needed to go to church.

I didn’t like churches, but I still had that nagging feeling.  I was searching for something, but it all seemed fake and phony to me.  People I met who were “spiritual” spoke in sweet voices that seemed fake and made up.

When I was visiting my brother in San Luis Obispo County, I went to my brother’s church and felt at peace.  He had gone in and out of drugs, so I thought his religion was a “crutch” that he needed.

But I did feel a great peace at his church.  He lived in Atascadero, CA, and he told me that there was a church like his, Calvary Chapel, in Northern CA by me.  So  I found it and started going there.

My husband was Catholic, and I told him I wanted to go to church, so he said let’s go to a Catholic church.  Great, so I went to two churches each week.  Catholic in the morning and Calvary Chapel after that.  That went on for a while, and I really enjoyed Calvary so much because of the bible teaching.  I loved it!

A few weeks after going to my new church, the pastor asked if anyone wanted to give their life to the Lord.  I said, Yes, I did because I didn’t want to go to hell.

But I still thought it all was nothing.  Everything I looked into previously felt not real.  It all felt dead, and just nothing real about it.

But the people at Calvary seemed to have real joy.  I remember the humor was wonderful, even in the teaching.  There seemed to be an authenticity that I had never experienced before.  I was just watching them all…

Anywho, the next morning I woke up and was lying in bed.  Then it happened.  It was like someone was gently shouting in my ear, “Covenant, Covenant.”

I was just waking up, and it hit me.  What is this word?  That is not my word!

Oh my goodness, that is Jesus,  God.  He really is alive, and He is talking to me right now.

Ever since then, the word “covenant” has had great meaning to me.  No one can tell me that Jesus is not alive.  He talks to me, and He is alive in heaven.

That is my testimony of what happened to me.  A great peace came over me and has never left.  I have never been the same since.  More later, blessings!
