Be Blessed Verse

Our verse for the week is:  Acts 16:13-15

13 On the Sabbath we (The Apostle Paul and his companions) went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. 14 One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. 15 When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.

Acts 16 describes Lydia as a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple (cloth), of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.

One Sabbath day, Lydia went to the river’s shore that had been designated by the Roman authorities of Philippi as a place of prayer and worship for the Jews. There she met Paul and Silas, who had been in Philippi only a short time. While others along the river may have rejected Paul’s words about Jesus, Lydia accepted them and became a believer (Acts 16:14).

Once she believed, she made a confession of her faith to her whole world through baptism, and then she assembled her entire household, told them what had happened to her, and asked them to believe. After her entire household accepted Christ as Savior and was baptized, Lydia invited Paul and Silas to stay in her home (Acts 16:15). When Paul and Silas were thrown into a Philippian prison, Lydia visited them and attended to their needs. Her house became the meeting place of the first European church.

Lydia was quick to perceive that what had been hers before her conversion—home, business, and possessions—now belonged to the Lord.

• She had a new partner—the Lord Jesus

• A new purpose—to serve him

• And a new satisfaction—seeking to be effective and successful in order to glorify the Lord.

Lydia’s career aspirations did not hinder her from sharing the gospel with family and friends. And she was not too busy to take time for hospitality.

5 Steps for a Great Color Consultation in Your Home

Color consultations provide a personalized experience to ensure you get exactly what you're looking for. With the expertise of professional color consultants in color theory and color trends, they can help you determine which colors will bring out the beauty of your home and create a unique style.

Here are the 5 steps in a home color consultation. I will speak of how my company works…You should be left with at least three large color samples.  Perhaps cut them in half and hand them in different color areas in the room.

To be extra safe I would get a small sample of each.

1. Hire a color certified professional to come to your home

Your color professional will Identify client ideas, and goals and help you to dream a little.

Hiring a Color Certified professional is the perfect way to get started on any interior design project. They will come to your home and help you identify your ideas, goals, and dreams for the space. With their expertise, they will then be able to provide you with the best plan of action for turning that dream into reality. In addition to helping you decide on colors, they can also assist you in developing a budget-friendly plan and finding unique pieces that fit your style.

2. Tour your home and establish givens and lighting situation

Working with a color consultant is the best way to give your interior design project that extra eye for detail. They will tour your home, noting the existing colors and characteristics of the space. Based on what you tell them about your own design vision, they can then provide personalized recommendations as to which colors to use in order to create a cohesive look that reflects your style. Once you've decided on the color palette, they'll be able to assist you with all the details necessary to bring it into reality.

3. Identify focal points in each room - what you want your eye drawn to first

Color consultants can help you identify the focal points in each room, so you know exactly what your eye will be drawn to first.

This can be particularly helpful for creating a visually interesting and inviting space, as it helps create the structure and balance necessary for a well-designed room. By understanding where the focal points should be placed, you can then add interior design elements that work together to bring out the best in both the room and your own personal taste.

Furthermore, with the help of a color consultant, you may also gain some interior design inspiration along the way!

4. Four color choices for each room, as needed

  • Trim

  • Walls

  • Ceilings (ceilings may be different than the walls)

  • Accent Colors - determine where this would be specified.

In deciding the color palette for each room, you may want to consider 4 areas to get the desired effect.

For starters, selecting a trim color helps bring together the different elements of your room and creates a unified look. The walls and ceilings should also have their own colors in order to define the different spaces within any given room, with the ceiling often taking on a lighter hue than the walls.

Finally, you might also choose an accent color here and there to add depth and dimension to your design scheme - this can be done through accessories such as throws or rugs, or even through wall art.

With these four choices, you will be able to achieve the perfect balance of colors that reflects your own taste and style.  I want to note that this may be 4 different colors or 1 color for all 4 areas.

5. Select paint colors and establish a color scheme

Choosing the right paint colors for your home is an important step in turning your vision into reality. With a well-thought-out color scheme, you can establish a unifying element that will carry throughout your entire house and create a cohesive look.

When selecting paint colors, consider the basic rules of color theory to ensure your space looks its best - these include understanding how warm and cool colors work together, as well as balancing lighter and darker hues.

With your own personal style and taste in mind, take the time to explore the many options available until you find the perfect combination of colors that bring everything together and make it truly feel like home.

What does the color purple mean in the Bible?

Royalty! Purple as a color in the Bible represents wealth or royalty.

Purple dye was made from the blood of tiny sea snails from the Mediterranean Sea.

Wearing purple symbolizes royalty, grandeur, independence, wisdom, devotion, extravagance, pride, and creativity, just to mention a few.

Some of the things that I learned about Lydia in Acts 16 are:

  • Worship God, and He will open your heart to respond to him. This wasn't random, it was directly connected

  • Be Generous and hospitable

  • Be open-handed

  • Be Confident

  • Be Persuasive

  • Successful women are not a threat to the gospel, or to real Godly men

I pray that the Lord is with you, delighting and rejoicing over you with singing this week.

Next episode, I will talk about How to Choose Paint Colors & Materials Simultaneously. So stay tuned!
